- It Started Like This...

- He later
marries his best friends sister and separated from her when he
was elected Lt. Governor. He stayed separated until he meet
his current wife then divorced her.

- His first wife's name was Julia Thorne.
They married in 1970, separated in 1982/3 and divorced in 1988.
They had two daughters together, who stayed with Ms Thorne and
were raised by her & a stepfather.

- Ms. Thorne was worth approximately $350
million, but the money is (as I understand it) in a rather illiquid
trust. Kerry did not get much (if any) of it in the settlement
and briefly lived on his salary; a tight stretch for a guy who
pays two hunge for a haircut and who dated Hollyweird slutlets
before bagging the Ketchup Queen.

- Indeed, he has from time to time paid
Ms Thorne child support. She has had mental health problems (she
admits considering or attempting suicide while married to Kerry)
and wrote a book in 1994 called "You Are Not Alone"
about her life. She is mentally sound now, remarried, and has
spoken in support of Kerry's candidacy.

Mother was a Forbes, however I don't know if is the Forbes with
money.

- Kerry's father was a minor diplomat;
his mother was a Forbes w/o money to speak of, although they
were never exactly a normal family. Being poor to them means
you only have a valet, a housekeeper, and nannies.

- The Forbses with the money (ISTR the
original fortune came from maritime trade in the 19th century,
including whaling?) are John Effing Kerry's cousins.

- A few years after Kerry remarried the
Ketchup Queen, he filed with the Catholic Church to annul the
marriage, which also would have had the effect of delegitimizing
his two daughters. Julia Thorne opposed the move; no idea how
the church ruled but generally it follows the money (by which
I mean, an annulment is as much for sale today as an indulgence
was in 1517).

- The Ketchup Queen extracted a pretty
Draconian prenup from Kerry. She is worth at least $650 Million
and has carte blanche (within the left and right limits of bare
legality) with the proceeds of a foundation endowed with over
$1 billion.

- By the way, another important Kerry
scandal came in 1972, when his brother Cameron and campaign worker
Tom Vallely were arrested in the basement of a political rival's
campaign HQ, trying to sabotage the opponent.

- Finally, his shorter than obligated
service? Like GWB, he took an early out, common at the time.
GWB took it work work on a campaign, Kerry to conduct one (the
congressional campaign where he got caught watergating his primary
opponent). He won the primary but was so extremely far to the
left that the Republican beat him!
